Luna has once again been recognized among the nation's top-performing outpatient physical therapy providers
by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). For the 2023 measurement period, Luna received a Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) score of 93.95 out of 100, reinforcing its position as a national leader in quality outcomes and tailored patient care.
This marks the third consecutive year that Luna has earned MIPS recognition for excellence. The latest results follow a perfect 100/100 score in 2022, demonstrating a consistent multi-year track record of clinical impact and care quality through its in-home physical therapy model.
Benchmark-Setting Outcomes in Pain and Function
In 2023, 58% of Luna patients achieved statistically significant improvement in pain and function—placing Luna within the highest national performance tier for physical therapy outcomes. These scores
are based on standardized CMS-approved measures and reflect Luna’s ongoing commitment to measurable patient recovery.
These strong results aren’t limited to one condition. Luna achieved high performance scores across a wide range of musculoskeletal injuries — from knee and lower body pain to neck and back rehab.
Here’s a look at how our care measured up in 2023:
- Knee Pain: Perfect 10 out of 10 score for pain relief, with patients improving at rates better than national benchmarks.
- Knee Function: Strong results for improved mobility and function after knee injuries — 9.06 out of 10.
- Lower Body Injuries (Hip, Leg, Ankle): High scores for both pain reduction and restored function — including two perfect 10 out of 10 ratings.
- Neck Pain: Patients saw significant pain relief, earning a 9.56 out of 10 performance score.
- Back Pain: Strong performance again, with pain improvements scoring above benchmark levels — 8.27 out of 10.
Note: All scores are based on CMS-approved patient-reported outcomes. For these measures, a lower percentage of patients failing to improve means better clinical performance.
